The Semiconductor Supercycle: Why This Rally Has Legs

Why the semiconductor supercycle has more room to run, and the top picks for the next leg higher.

Everyone keeps calling the top in semis. They've been wrong for two years straight. Here's why the semiconductor supercycle is far from over — and which names have the most upside from here.

The AI Infrastructure Buildout Is Just Starting

We're in the early innings of the largest infrastructure buildout since the internet. Every major hyperscaler — Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta — is spending $50-80B per year on data centers. That money flows directly to semiconductor companies.

NVIDIA is the obvious beneficiary, but the supply chain runs deep. ASML makes the lithography machines. TSMC does the fabrication. Broadcom and Marvell provide the networking chips. AMD is gaining share in both data center GPUs and CPUs.

Beyond AI: The Forgotten Drivers

AI gets all the headlines, but there are other powerful tailwinds:

  • Automotive: EVs use 3-5x more semiconductor content than ICE vehicles
  • Edge computing: IoT devices are proliferating
  • Government: CHIPS Act subsidies are driving domestic production
  • Memory: HBM demand for AI is creating shortages in DRAM

My Top Picks

In order of conviction: NVDA (still the king), AVGO (networking + VMware), AMAT (equipment plays always win in buildouts), and MU (HBM memory leader).

The pullbacks in this group have been shallow and brief. That tells you institutions are buying every dip. Don't fight the trend.
